A short course on FutureLearn typically lasts between 2 and 8 weeks. Certificates are available for these courses, but you may have to pay to receive one. Sponsored courses are short courses that offer a free digital upgrade. Upgrade courses are available to take for free for the length of the course. If you're likely to take many courses on FutureLearn, you might consider subscribing to an Unlimited membership. Most of the free short courses are included in Unlimited.

ExpertTracks:
ExpertTracks are for people who want to improve their workplace skills. They have a monthly subscription fee with a free seven-day trial to allow you to sample the course material. Check the Requirements section of the description page to see if ExpertTrack has accreditation. Unlimited does not include ExpertTracks.

Microcredentials:
Microcredentials are accredited graduate or postgraduate-level courses that typically last 12 weeks. They may be worth university credit or lead to professional accreditation in a specific field or discipline. Microcredentials are not included in Unlimited.

Online Degrees:
FutureLearn also provides full degrees that have been accredited by the awarding institution. Some degrees offer free taster modules as short courses, this can be a great way to test the waters and determine whether a degree is right for you. Unlimited does not include degrees.

To enroll in a free course, first, locate one that interests you. By clicking on Subjects, you can browse all of the courses. When you click Join course for free.
Where you'll see the following options:
You have free access to the course for the duration of the course. This will begin on the day you join or the day the course begins, whichever comes first.
Upgraded access grants you access to the course for an extended period of time as well as the opportunity to earn a Certificate of Achievement.
Unlimited gives you extended access to hundreds of eligible short courses as well as a digital certificate.
